Ordered a Mustang solo / pillion combo last week as I was told by
their factory rep (one of the 3 technicians they have) that the one
piece unit had to be redesigned for the 09's but the 2 piece unit
would work just fine.

Put it on last night and as those of you who own a Mustang know,
theres no comparrison to the stock unit! Real comfy, and looks
awesome, but I had some concerns about the fit, so I snapped some pics
and emailed them to the rep who sold me the seat then called him back.

He said everything looked fine and the only change they were making
to the solo for 09 was up near the tank where you could just see a
little of the black plastic piece on the frame on the 09's. I really
had no problem with how it looked so I thought I would be ok and
thanked him for his help.

Then I looked closer and found that the rubber bumpers under the front
of the seat that are supposed to rest on the frame are hanging in mid
air and there is absoutly nothing under them which is of course
causing the seat to "bend" when I sit on it. This is due to the frame
change made on the 09's.

Since it was already after 9:00 when I discovered this problem, I
emailed the rep this morning and explained the situation and suggested
he send me a couple more bumpers and rivits and I will add them closer
to the front of the seat where they will sit on the frame.

Its either do this or send the whole thing back for a refund and wait
till they have the redesigned model ready in a couple months.

Problem with that plan is that I am taking a trip to the outer banks
in a couple weeks and hate the thought of sitting on that board of a
stock seat for 30 or 40 hrs!

I'll keep you all posted as to how Mustang handles this situation.

Just curious - did you look into the Harley Sundowner? I had a Mustang on my Sportster and now I have the Sundowner on my 2008 Street Glide. The HD seat is right up there in comfort (I've done several 300+ mile days) and much less expensive than the Mustang setup.

I'd be interested in knowing where the mustang seat positions you. I am looking for a seat that moves me down and back. Does the mustang do that?

My opinion of the sundowner is that it is a piece of crap. I purchased the sundowner for my 09 street glide and hated the position that it put me at. Obviously that is a personal preference, however after only 400 miles the stitching between the drivers vinyl and passengers binder was pulling and you could see the white side of the vinyl. extremely crappy construction not to mention the plastic pan used to construct the seat. In my opinion the extra $100 for a mustang, corbin, C&C etc is worth the investment.

Geez, sorry I even brought it up. Sounds like you got a bad seat and could have taken it back for a new one.

Had a sundowner on the Deuce and hated it so much I ripped off the cover and re-fashioned the foam so it was like the stock seat then had it recovered. Great improvement! Only reason I got it to begin with was for the wider passenger to keep the wife comfy. Heard a lot of complaints about the sundowner in general. Your the first person I ever heard who liked it!

Yes, it does move you down and possibly a little back, but the movind down is what I like. Its much easier to plant your feet on the ground. 100 times more comfortable than the crappy stocker!

I'll take some pice when I get home. BTW....I was going to go with the one piece but glad I did the solo/pillion combo. A little more money, but it nice to be able yo remove that back section and expose that awesome looking fender!
