A few things to share, If you go through Trinadad or Walsenburg, make time to do the Hwy 12 loop through Stonewall. If you find yourself on US 160 go north at South Fork on 149 this is one of the nicest rides I've done. Then you can drop down into Durango, this route will take you past the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, & the Blue Messa. My wife & I are lifetime residents of CO these are some of the highlites of the area you will be visiting. As far as warnings, rain-gear, don't leave home without it, afternoon thunderstorms in CO can drop temps. into the low 60's, so coats & warm gear aren't a bad idea either. Don't worry anything on the west side of I-25 is awesome Colorado scenery. Have fun, & ride safe.
