Bike went BOOM! (and then my pants caught on fire...)

Clean the joints up good and use hi-temp RTV silicone. It will seal the joint and make pulling the next time less a challenge. JB Weld won't keep that bracket together; to it right and do it once; replace the bracket or mig weld it.

Much overdue update.
Was on a Patriot Guard Mission on Vetrens day (Escort home for a Marine Sergent, quadruple amputee, first time in the tailgun slot. Umm...several hundred bikes stretched out ~2 miles in front of me = WINNING). Nearly got killed by a trophy wife in a Lexus SUV, heard a clang under my seat under hard breaking and downshifting, then my pants got hot again. at the next stop i stuck my head under the seat, and sure enough my almost brand new replacement Y pipe was split, almost exactly where the old one split. When I got home, i took it apart and wrapped it up with one of those muffler hole sealer kits and about a quart of exhaust putty. it smells pretty bad, but its holding.
Now, deployed to the Rockpile, so I have ordered the Full Sac true dual system, the TFI tuner, and will be making an appointment at Hunts Cycle Shack for when i get home for the install, plus new head gaskets, new shifter pawl and centering pin, replace both exhaust mounts (the rear was replaced too and is cracked again, plus I just JBwelded and epoxied the right side one back togather), chassis/powerplant alignment, full service, and a good once over. Have to ride it down to Fort Hood in early october, getting PCSed and then re-deployed.

I have not gone back over the whole thread so if this has been suggested just skip it. When you have the bike in for the install make sure that the motor mounts are checked.

had a similar problem but went to a welding shop with the parts and was hooked up for 20 bucks. by the way.......thank you for your service to our country and come home safe......been there and done that!

Nother update:
1 more week before I get to go home. TFI tuner, full sac exhaust, intake, and a small pile of spare parts waiting for me. Appt made for overhaul on 13 June, just hope my flights dont get delayed.
@bronco: I dont deserve the thanks, im just a DOD Civilian with a uncommon set of skills, not a green suiter. My hero's have thier names on velcro tape over thier right chest, not on thier backs.
