Four of us are just going through the planning stages of a tour in USA.
We are from New Zealand. Bought our bikes (waiting for us in LA). We have done a lot of research as we have a limited time. Chosen to do our own thing and have purchased GPS's.
I found a Planner that has helped us with distances. I suspect the times that it tells us are on the cautious side and we should be able to cover the miles in less than it says. One of the beaut things about it is that we are able to download the routes onto our GPS. That is going to take a lot of pressure of us and let us enjoy the trip even more. I have split our 3 weeks into daily sections. They are
Anaheim to Lake Havasu City
Lake Havasu City to Prescott
Prescott to Grand Canyon
Grand Canyon to Las Vegas
Las Vegas to Lake Isabella
Lake Isabella to Fresno
Fresno to Sonora
Sonora to San Franscico
San Franscico to Monterey
Monterey to Cambria
Cambria to Los Angeles
We have stops planned at Las Vegas, San Franscico, Monterey (For the MotoGP) and LA.
We are trying to squeeze as much in as possible but giving ourselves time to have a good look around.
We don't have enough time to travel all the great biker roads so we have picked out some that fit in with other things.
