Spot/Aux Lights Mod

also HD just came out with a plug and play kit for that...if anyone dosn't feel good about cutting wires and such....

Yup... I just bought that kit.
$29.95
Open up the fairing/plug and play. I don't have to search for the needed wire.

I’m getting ready to modify the Spot/Aux Lights so the spot lights remain on when the High beam is selected.
I’ve researched HDT and the schematics of my bike. It looks like I have 2 choices. Gain access to the Spot/Acc switches or Pug 105 (under the fairing upper left side).
I’m planning on removing the fairing to gain access to Plug 105 and move the yellow wire (Spot lights power wire) to the orange wire (accessory power from 15 amp fuse). The pin numbers are on the schematic diagram and I’ll look them up again when I figure out how to remove the fairing.

OK I got it mapped out. I also made an error above: It's the o/r (orange and red) wire not the orange wire.

Please see the 2009 Touring Maint Book for details.

Remove fairing: See page 2-101.

Find Plug 105A: See page 7-91 Item 14 and appendix B-2 item 23. Remove yellow wire from P-105A Pin 6 and splice into O/R wire at P-105A Pin 1. I plan to Install both wires into a new contact and install into P-105A pin 1. :D

Thanks for the info for here at HDT

Mongo; Fairing removal is easy. 3 windshield bolts, and 2 on each side, just below your levers, and just inside your fork tubes way down. When bolts are out, lift fairing up and out a little, then reach in and pull the headlight connector straight back. Continue up and tilting out for the fairing. Then sit down and tell your self to be calm, you are not going to mess with ALL of those wires, just a couple. :rofl
While you are in there, check your fairing mounts (above the radio) for cracking.

Thanks Breeze. I found it in the Maint Manual and it's just as you said above. Thanks

I just installed the Aux/Spot light mod. It was a tight fit for my Fred Flintstone hands (getting a hold of P-105) but I did it.:D

Thanks for the information.. I assume it is just a unplug old and plug in new thing. Has anybody had any problems with this plug?

If you have big hands it may be a little difficult. Take your time and do not get frustrated. The plug (105) of an Ultra (with the fairing removed) is on the lower left side as you are looking at the front of the bike. If you follow the wiring harness under the 4-switch consol, you will find P105 just above the fork tube. I did not use the $30 harness that Harley sells. I simply cut and spliced. The spot lights work on high or low beam and it was fee :D
