Solenoid plunger disassembly?

The copper washer is a press fit...on my Sporty it did not take much...just a deep socket and a bench vise worked for me. And as Bordeen says, it will take a beating if you have a low battery or dragging starter/tight engine at startup.

Check the temperature of the terminals and mating areas...if they are warm or HOT (be careful), it means you have corrosion or arcing that has increased the contact resistance at that point...just to make sure the voltage drops along the high current cables are minimal.
