i just take it off and let it drip then when done give it a bath. usually needs washing anyway by then

I found a good way to make it easy punch a hole in the end of the filter let it drain when you are draining the oil i put a hole to the low side at the end with an old long screwdriver that i ground to a point when the oil drains it seems to miss the bike frame
