Right road number, wrong state. I still don't know if this was in AZ or CA.

All great pics, you are having a good adventure, safe riding and keep up the great pics:s

Day 20, June 21, 2012, Thursday

I was up at 0350, showered and loaded the bike. I hung around as it was still dark and didn’t want to attempt getting through El Paso traffic with limited visibility. At 0515 I headed east. I’m glad I waited because like any major city the interstate traffic was unnerving to me. Fortunately I was able to blast through at around 70 MPH, but it still seemed to take forever. When the vast expanse of west Texas appeared I felt a lot better. The speed limit was 80 so you can make pretty good time. At 0700 I was at Fort Hancock and rode through town, took a couple of pictures and got some chow. I couldn’t imagine that speed on the interstate for hundreds of miles so I turned off on Hwy 90 at 0850. This turned out to be the perfect road to do the majority of my 484.6 miles on. It was free of almost any traffic, good asphalt and 70-75 mph speed limits. Just the kind of wide open scenery I like and having the road to myself. By 1600 I was ready to stop for the day and holed up in a motel to relax and continue the adventure in the morning.

PS. I'm having problems with the motel wi-fi so the pictures may get delayed.

A border crossing in the middle of nowhere. The only question I was asked: "Are you a US citizen". I thought about giving a smart answer, but restrained myself. This seems kinda stupid to me, but what do I know.

Day 21, June 22, 2012, Friday

I intentionally got up late this morning in Del Rio, Texas, 0620. What I didn’t realize until later is that I had crossed a time zone around El Paso, so it was actually 0720. No great travesty as I was only going to Leakey, TX to see an old Marine Corps buddy. 126 miles later, I was where I was headed; the easiest day ever. The ride was pleasant with more Texas scenery. I ran into another border patrol checkpoint just before Uvalde, TX. I was asked the same “Are you a citizen” question and allowed through. Hill country sure is pretty, no wonder so many bikes come here. I’ll make more eastward progress in the morning.

Another border crossing in the middle of nowhere.
