Find a small independent that caters to knee draggers and road racers; those guys are changing tires all the time. The shop near me charges $20 to R/R the tire and balance whether you buy the tire from him or bring them in. He gets a kick out of changing a tire off a Harley that has very little tread left on the "corners" compared to tires that are worn in the center with lots of tread left on the "corners". He never fails to comment; he calls those lightly worn corners "chicken strips".
