Dead in the water

Since whole bike seems dead...i.e. you should at least have the headlight, guage lights and turn signals functioning as a minimum. I would disconnect the battery and have it checked with a load tester.

You need to find out why everything is dead FIRST, before worrying about the starter/drive and other problems that may have occurred.

Thanks for all the help. Traced the problem finally to the battery. Had voltage but no cranking amps. Load test revealed open cell or sulfated battery. Went ahead and di-electric all fuses and relays. Check date on battery-4/2002, 7 years is long enough I guess.
Thanks again for all your information!
