Cable lube?

I watched the video on how to adjust you clutch and wondered what he was using for cable lube that didnt require the lube tool. Anyone have a favorite they would like to share?

This is mine

No need for the tool , the pin tip applicator gets down in the switch housing to the cable ends without any dis assembly.

I use aerosol chain lube on my cables, just put the straw in the end of the housing and fire away.

WD-40 is ok to free up a sticky cable but it evaporates in very short order. You need to use something that won't disappear in a few days.:s

Thanks Doug. Any recommendations for over the counter at a local hardware store? I am due to lube my cables.
