none of the fuses appeared to be bad but we changed them all anyway. the fuel pump came on the first time we tried after changing all the fuses and putting in new battery, but now the fuel pump does not come on. The bike cranks and is definately getting power, but like it is not getting gas to keep it going. other than fuses, what should we check next?
Well pull the fuse for the pump, and using your DVOM, see if you have voltage across the fuse plugs. If so, you can pull the fuel pump assembly out of the tank, unplug the wires and jumper to the battery or another 12Vdc source to see if the pump is working. That will determine if you need to replace it, or if it is wiring/connections from the pump back to the fuse block. If the latter, it is a tracing exercise to figure out where the break is.
