The M6 has a very good reputation with riders, however it is known to sometimes break the spring. I'm partial to the similar unit that uses the primary oil to drive a small hydraulic piston much like a hydraulic lifter. I've been using one successfully for 3 years now. It also costs about the same as the M6.

The brand of the "unit" you are using may help the o.p. out here.

I've had one for 4yrs. and have 80,000 miles on it without any problems. I would say go for it.

just checking in to let you know, I was finally able to hit the road hear in centrall Wi. the M6 auto tentioner was simple to install and works just as it advertises. So far im happy with my purchase. quiets the primary, smooths ride and shifting. love it so far. Now if it stands up to the test of time, Ill post if any problems arise
