Assembling the front end on a 2006 Street Bob

Installed the solid riser bushings (buffed the top ones), 3 inch grade 8 bolts using lots of red loctite. I tightened the riser bolts very tight. There will be no play in this bike's steering - at least not coming from the risers.

Yepper, the red locktite insures nothing will be coming loose, I hope you love the solid bushings. What handlebars are those? I see they are not chromed all the way up, are there covers for them?

JMHO but I would not use solid bushings with a set of apes on a softail or a dyna. Polyurethene busings take 99% out of the flex with any handle bar set, apes or othewise. I installed a set of Ness "Hi Fly" bars on my '05 FXSTD many years ago with solid bushings and had to replace them with polyurethend; too much "buzz" in the bar ends. Granted the B motor is hard mounted to the frame and the A motor is rubber mounted but even so, there will be some vibration with the solid bushings which may or may not be a nuisance. Replacing the solid bushings with poly on my Deuce made big difference; no more "buzz" in the bars. Have been running them for the past 18 years with no issues. Low miles on the bike because my job invoves a fair amount of international travel and, over the years I have had three bikes in the garage, so that has kept the miles low so I can't comment on longevity.

I do know that bar-end weights have been used forever to minimize bar vibration in sport bikes, so if the vibration with the solid bushings becomes a nuisance, that might be a quick fix.FXSTD.2.JPG Enjoying watching John's thread; looking forward to the "reveal".;)

Test fit the fork tubes and the new fork mount LED turn signals (no running lights). I will lock all this down with some loctite. Fork tubes will protrude a half inch above the top triple tree.
