Add a Siren to your Factory Security for $6

I must have got ripped off. Mine was $5.99 :D
Going to install it today. Should I disconnect the battery first? Where is the plug I'm tapping into? I got a good idea but want to make sure. If the alarm goes off, can you manually turn it off? If I just bring the fob within range, will that make it stop?
Thanks

If you haven't already installed it:
1) Disconnecting the battery is always the "approved" method, but I didn't.
2) The alarm plug should be under the left side cover, close the the frame tube & exh. pipe.
3) The alarm will automatically stop when the fob gets within distance. I wired a tiny toggle switch into my alarm so I can deactivate it if I want.

Works great!!! Thanks everybody for all the info. :D

Yes, I just ran the wires in parallel with the first one. The location of the siren on my '07 seems to be different than RedfishJoes picture. My siren #1 loc. is behind the ECM module, facing the fender, a little bit muffled. I have aftermarket horns, so I mounted siren #2 inside the original horn bell. The Radio Shack siren is so light that tie wraps are more than adequate for mounting. There's many suitable places to hide the little buggers.

Yes, heated until solder will flow into the wires. Then they are stiff like a single strand wire.

Thanks! Works like a charm on my '09 Classic. :)

hi red fish joe this is short round down on the bayoui read about that siren and was woundering if i could put that on my 2011 tryglide

The part number is 273-0079, and was $5.49. The factory security module has a plug to allow connection to the HD siren. I just tinned the two leads from the siren, and inserted them into the first two slots shown on the plug in the photo. Then I taped it up with electrical tape to see if it worked.

It chirps when you turn off the main power switch to the bike (at the same time the lights flash to indicate the system is armed). It also then starts chirping a warning when the bike is moved (sounds a few times and then goes off full tilt).

Red wire from siren goes to the brown wire on the Harley plug, and the black wire from the siren goes to the green wire on the plug. I just used a soldering iron to tin the siren leads to give them body to insert into the Harley plug.

The Harley plug has 2 rows of pins, use the rows that do not have the metal visible when you are looking at the plug... look at it and you will see what I'm talking about. One row is connected to the wires on the back of the plug and the other is not.

Once you get the wires inserted I then wrapped some electrical tape around the plug to keep the wires in place and re-inserted the plug back into the female receptacle on the chassis molding where it was originally stored. I drilled out the mounting holes on the siren to accommodate a wire tie(plastic zip tie) and secured it place where the OEM siren would go.

It chirps to warn you a couple of times and then goes off for about 20 seconds, then resets itself.
Worked on my 05' Fatboy, although I don't get a chirp with the blinker flash when arming and disarming via the keyfob. Do you know the part # of the receptical plug ? 'Id like to do a professional install without changing the stock 3 pin connector or jamming tinned wires in the plug. Thank you
