89 heritage softail burning out after market ignition module and headlight

Hi looking for some advice 89 heritage keeps burning out ignition module and headlight with new ignition module i ride about 4 miles and dies headlight burns out also... will not crank. unless i disconnect ignition module from positive post on ignition coil i have no idea where to start checking for cause

Same thing happened to my 96 fatboy yrars ago. Bad regulator was allowing overcharge as Jack stated. My battery was also overheating.

Older model Softails were notorious for vibration and breaking voltage regulator circuits, scrape the paint where the regulator mounts and use star washers to insure a good ground this will help some, remember the regulator has to regulate the voltage and shunt excess to the air
