First off I want to say that I am posting this for my father.
He rides a 2003 Road King Classic. He recently had the motor built some from a 1450cc to a 1550cc and it has ran great. About two weeks ago he had HD (who does most his work for him) install some new plug wires. Shortly after that he would have trouble starting the bike. He would have to hit the switch 2-4 times before it would start. Thinking it may be because of the recent motor work and because he was getting one anyway, he had an HD tech that he knows install a high torque starter, I am unsure of the brand.
This didn't help anything, didn't hurt either. At this point he took the bike back to HD and had them look at it. HD said it sounds like the Crank Position Sensor. So him and a couple of his buddies checked that out....didn't help.
Proceed to check the coil and that turned out fine. And since my father has had troubles with plug wires in the past I suggested the check them out. Swapped them with some that were on another bike and still had the same problem.
So I am here to ask if any of you have experienced anything like this? Any suggestions? If you need any more info please feel free to ask, I am not into motorcycles myself and dont know a great deal about them but like all the things I am into when I need help I know the best place to go is the forums, way too much knowledge to pass up.
I apologize for the length of this post too, lol.
