Voltage gauge

It was the relay.
But, there’s more to the story.
1997 FLHTCU, original owner, around 150,000 miles.
Old thing has had a couple of aggravating issues, just in the last couple of years.
The latest:
It had been running as good as ever, and was idling great. But, as we were going down the road feeling fine I noticed that the oil pressure gauge was reading quite a bit lower than usual. At operating temperature, 2500-3000 rpm, usually had been around 25 psi, suddenly it was reading 15-20. Crap. However, continued to run and sound fine.
Then I noticed that the voltmeter was showing just under 12V, normally it would show 13V plus. When I got home, I measured 14V between battery posts with the engine running on my multi meter.
It took me a while, using multi meter and wiring diagram, cleaning connections and such, but I tracked it down to the relay. I replaced the relay and the socket with one I got off of Amazon, which is water-resistant and looks generally better than the OEM.
That fixed the voltage gauge issue.
The rest of the story: the oil pressure gauge reading improved, but is still lower than expected ( hovers just below 20 psi at 2500-3000 rpm, warm).
I’ve stopped running it, because I found some metal in my oil. Uht-O. Trailering it to the shop for disassembly and inspection. First available appointment July28.
Hopefully, it’s just going to need lifters and guide blocks, cam and bearings, breather gear. Maybe rebuild the oil pump.

Anyways, I thought maybe the relay story might be helpful for someone else.
