This is on a 2009 Sportster Iron 883 2500 miles. Has not hit anything but has bottomed out the front forks on driveway ramps and a pot hole at slow speed.
I am thinking I may have an alignment problem because it does not feel secure in left turns (at around 60-65mph) and I don't think I'm imagining this but it seems to want to drift to the right if I take hands off the bars. It also has the clunk in the stem bearings which I have tightened twice. It has been tightened up to 60 ft-lbs so far. I believe I read a post that torqued these up to around 100 ft-lbs but that seems high.
I wonder if this stem bearing clunk is related to this unstable feeling in turns and sense of mis-alignment.
If anyone has any some ideas on what I should check I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Alan
