Hall & Oates had plenty of rock songs.Maybe deep purple didn't because you have to go beyond 3 chord progressions to get the award? :D I think Ronstadt's better known for pirates of penzance than rock at this point.

Are you trying to tell me that Ace Frehley of Kiss was a better guitar player than Ritchie Blackmore??? And Jon Lord was the best keyboard player of all rock n roll, with Keith Emerson a very close second. Deep Purple was putting out awesome rock songs when the members of Nirvana was still in diapers. Public Enemy is in??? Are they rock n roll??? Madonna over Deep Purple??? C'mon man. And if 3 chord progressions won't get you in, how is AC/DC in there??? All Angus Young knows is 3 chords. Dr. John??? Seriously??? Ok, I could go on and on about this, but I think you get the point.
