They changed the touring frames for '09 so I didn't think they were compatable with pre-'09 bikes.

Yes the frames were changed but I didn't know if the length where the seat goes is longer or shorter.
I think it depends on the specific seat you are talking about. I just did a random search on the HD accessories page for an '09 CVO Ultra Classic and some seats say "fits '08 and up....." while others say "fits '09 and up....."
