I am Like most here:

CRUISE at the lower end on FLAT good surfaces...

I'll always Shift Down to increase my speed/twisting hard on the throttle or when pulling a hill at the lower RPM's...

I do not Lug the motor PULLING.. That is why God gave me a Left foot for my Harley's and the right one given Years ago for my BSA... SHIFT :D

Lugging for the Sound Is a Death Sentence for MY HD.... Many do it:shock,,,,, BUT, It is there bike to abuse...

And to take this great advice one step further Bubbie, a down shift can yield you a approximate increase of a 10 HP for free........:small3d026:
