How does it show up on the Who's Viewing.....does it come up as names or names of sites.....how do you know they are there...and are they from different countries..........and are they software apps.......

Bots, like most things can be good or evil. That depends on how they are set up. They can be used as a tool to monitor the forum and flag anything suspicious, or they can look for targets to attack if they are evil. They can also be programmed to boost activity if need be, but I don't know that those are used here. There are probably some set up for mining information on every site on the web. But overall, the bots on this forum seem harmless. It's been a few years since I studied up on the networking stuff, but that is basically bots in a nutshell. I was forced to switch jobs with my company about 8 years ago so I'm not doing any network troubleshooting any longer. nb

Google can get you into some great rabbit holes on bots and how they work & what they do if you want. I just don't have the time for any rabbit holes these days. But they are kind of interesting.
