That is the deal, government has NHTSA and manufacturer has Service Bulletins...bottom line, as a responsible owner, buyer or seller you should always check your vehicles for any safety or recall service bulletins and pay attention. Some are not in the "public domain" so always go to the dealer to be sure...!

The Dot gets involved when it is a safety issue I E ignition switches and brakes, forcing the manufacture to do a recall, Remember Toyota?

Wow! FLHX is not even listed. HD must have outdone themselves on that Model. Looks like they did a perfect job on that Model except having to replace both Fairing brackets on my bike because they broke.
Dealer said becauase I was trying to do Wheelies...Dealer just went out of Business end of August.....:worthy
