Rear disc hotter than front on 09 Deluxe?

The biggest thing to understand is the square cut o ring in the calipers not only seal the brake fluid from leaking out , but also keep a slight drag on the brake , you would notice it more on the rear brake because of less air flow. The disc brakes are meant to run with 0 clearance so they are ready when you are, kind of like residual pressure in old drum brakes with wheel cylinders, hope this helps:)
 
I would like to thank hoople for the advice on this subject! I too had a rear brake issue and once I got my bike back from the shop. I followed the advice on the 1 mile ride and when I touched the rear disc it was no longer boiling hot so the repair worked. Going forward I know what to do now if I suspect it dragging.
 
No problem. I use the rear brake more then the front one more on curves. Sometimes I use both of them it depends on the conditions.
