I think I have a bad voltage regulator but am not sure how to test it to be sure. With the bike idling i get about 12.3 volts and reving it only gets up to 12.6. It has a new battery, stator and voltage regulator but I think the new regulator is bad.

i looked at the testing the charging system and i have one other question. How do I know if I have a 22, 32, or 45 amp system?

put an ac meter across the stator plug, should see up to bout 60vac at 2000rpm, also on ohms connect 1 lead to either stator terminal and the other to ground if there is ground on either terminal its a dudd stator. check the stator side of the reg to ground aswell as post reg votage, the stators on those sporties are pretty common to fail.
