I have a 2003 Sportster XL Custom and the rear light does not stay on when the battery is on. The brake light and the turn signal work as they should, but no light that stays on as I ride the bike. A cop stopped me tonight to let me know that I better get it fixed. Any thoughts on why all the lights work except the running light?

First thing I'd check would be the bulb.

I agree with the bulb first, could be a swinging filament, second a test light to check the socket part to see if you have power.

Agree, check the bulb, and the fuse, I'm pretty sure on my buddies Heritage his running lights were on a different fuse than the brake lights and turn signals.

It's the bulb. No biggie. It's got a dual filament, and one is broken
