Well guys, im new to the forum, and new to harley. I just got a 1996 sportster 883, and well, its alittle too small for me. So I decided I wanted to lengthen the back end of the frame and give it that chopper look. I dont however want to go hardtail. Is there a way i can turn this bike into a softail chopper? Has anyone gone this route? Please send pics if you have. Thanks guys.

Don't know if this will help you or not. But, it might be a _much_ cheaper, simpler fix for you.

I just got a 2000 883 which was also a bit too small for me.

I upgraded to a Le Pera seat, which moved my seaing position down about an inch and back about 2 inches. That was enough to make me fit better on the bike.

2 cents.

If that doesn't interest you, or isn't enough, good luck with the conversion!

There are some wide tire kits that will lengthen the bike by about 3 inches, you'll need a different drive belt or chain but they list the size you will need....This would give you the chooper look that you want and lenghten the bike.
