Lifter installation

Have a 2004 softail took out lifter which way does the oil holes point

which hole did it come out of .. easy way to tell is stick you finger in lifter hole and fill for the oil feed slot then face the hole in lifter to it

The lifter will work ether way because of the oil grove, I ways install new ones with the oil holes facing inboard, but they should always be marked when being disassembled so they go back the same way so wear patterns match up, they can come from the factory ether way, but I would go inboard so the holes are facing each other.

Although my bikes are older evo motors wording from the service manual states (The orientataion of the oil hole in the side of the tappet does not affect tappet performance)
