Kill Switch Question

I am new to Harley's and new to this forum so be kind... I purchased my new to me 2009 RKC about 2 months ago. At the dealership i was told by the salesman to never use the kill switch to shut of the bike, to only use the ignition switch. Reason being the computer dumps all the mapping of the way i ride. Now, i am an automotive tech. for 22 years and i know if you disconnect the battery on some vehicles this does happen. But, does it happen on a Harley?

ok, I thought that sounded a bit odd and the owners manual i got was for a 2012 so i wasn't sure. Thanks for the responce.

On my 2008 EG I always shut down with kill switch and have never had a problem. You just can not believe some salesman.
