I have a 2000 dyna low rider FXDL and I need to either add or replace the oil in the forks. What type of oil do I need and where can it be purchased?

Thanks

Guess you may have found some by now...all mc dealers stock it...and plenty of hints and tips on many threads here as to how to do it!

I buy oil from an oil specialist and use a 10 weight fork oil although your local Harley dealer will have the recommended oil in stock

harley sells fork oil in 16 oz. containers for the same price that metric bike dealers get for a 32 oz. container. I use ATF which is just a little heavier than 10 w. fork oil in both my Dyna and Electra Glide.

A little stiffer, mostly unnoticeable except when braking. I've been using it for 20+ years in the Dyna. Just changed the Electra Glide.
Boy, does the stock Harley Fork oil STINK when draining!!!

Welcome aboard, glad to have you here. :ws

I moved your thread here, seems more appropriate, and you may get more advice. :s

cool ill try the atf next time. i was riding on some dirt roads and my forks bottomed out a lot , knocked off the wind screen. i installed progressive springs not long ago but they were of no help on those dirt roads. ihave 10 wt oil in there now was going to try some 20 wt.
