Footboard Insert fell off

I was coming back from a road trip Sunday & I put my feet on the highway pegs & my right footboard flew off the bike . The footboard broke from the mounting rubber & all of the rubber mounts were in the base board , you could see that the rubber was cracked & dry rotted . These footboard are a collection series from HD not the stock footboard . Has anyone else had this problem & is it a common ? I can see that because the footboard is rubber mounted that there is vibration & movement and there could be stress on the weak points of the mounts but these inserts only lasted 10 months & at a $100 I do not want to keep putting new ones on every year .

I've got the half moon floorboards and had the shift side come apart on me. They say Harley Davidson on them and are going to be spendy to replace with the same. I found some aftermarket pads on ebay that say USA on them, they just glue on. I'm thinking I might go the cheap route since they may not hold up with heavy use.
