Flank Drive Torque Adaptor

I need to torque the three rocker bolts on the left side of my motor using a 7/16" flank drive torque adaptor. How do you get the torque wrench perpendicular so you don't multiply the torque value? Do I need to purchase another attachment?

I can't give you the link but there are formulas to use when adding length to a torque wrench in order to get proper torque readings. Years back there were charts in the Snap-On tool catalog that would tell you the multiplier to use. All you needed to know was the length (center to center) of the long reach adapter you were using.

Since Snap-On makes Torque wrench adapters to get into tight spaces, they provided the charts.
It may be worth a look. Their catalogs are available on-line.

Calculating adjusted torque values is pretty easy.

La = Adjusted length of torque wrench, center of handle to center of socket

Lo = Original length of torque wrench, center of handle to center of socket

Adjusted torque value = Lo/La

So, if your original length was 12", and your new length is 15", the adjusted value would be 12/15 = 80% of the specified torque reading.

If your original length was 15" and your adjusted length was 12", the adjusted value would be 15/12 = 125% of the specified torque reading.
