Exhaust Slip Ons

You know I have often wounded about the stock slip ons. I got a set of the Vance Hines OS 450. Great pipes, but could not figure out why the Stock Slip on so much lighter in weight. I know they are bigger round, but man these things are heavy. They say the slip ons are more restrictive but the weight does not make sense.

I'm not familiar with your V&H slip on's, but the weight difference can be due to several things. The HD shell is probably made of thicker metal. HD baffles are usually full length perforated metal, where many others use short fiberglass wrapped screen. HD's often have a heavy gauge screen welded over thinner mesh lining the muffler. A little here and there makes quite a difference.

The 17 and 18 stock slip-ons are way lighter than any slip-ons that I have seen. Why ,I don't know. As far as restrictive, early dino's for stock vs screamin' eagle slip-ons, showed no horse power gains. Screamin' eagles are visibly straight thru and the stocks are not.
