engine noise bleeds through speakers

This problem just popped up out of the blue.I was out enjoying the afternoon with one of my favorite cd's just cruisin and jamin.out of nowhere the stereo starts distorting and iI could hear the engine noise through the front speakers.I have had the faring off and checked the ground and connections,everything looks fine.I am wondering if it could be the amp.I am looking for ideas.:

What brand of amp.? How old was it? Just replaced my HogTunes after six weeks. Was disapointed it went out, but got replacement under warranty very quickly. Very pleased with their customer service.

IT was an H-D 55 watt amp . it was 6 years old.
