See the post above from Frostbyte. Does your problem go away when the tank is full of fuel? When my bike developed holes in the convoluted tubing inside the tank, it exhibited symptoms like you are describing. If you have a Twin Scan 88 adapter ( Daytona Sensors LLC - Twin Scan 88 Low Cost Scan Tool ) to read your codes, you may see that the engine light was indicating low fuel pressure. I think the popping is when the injectors get a shot of fuel. Had to fix mine ('03 Ultra) twice in the last 3 years for same thing. Second time around I went with high pressure fuel line from an auto parts store. HD does NOT sell just the plastic tubing, of course!!
