Changing the battery is simple just make sure you disconnect the negative terminal first when removing and connect it last when installing.
1. Remove lower fastener (1).
2. Pivot cover (2) outward and lift to disengage slots on
cover from projections on battery tray (3).
3. Unthread and remove battery negative cable from negative
battery terminal (4).
4. Unbolt and remove battery positive cable from positive
(+) battery terminal (5).
5. Remove battery strap (6).
6. Remove battery from tray.
Early model year Dynas
It's as easy as removing the seat, and loosening the two bolts to the rear of the battery that secure it to the frame (#2 in the top pic).
Then the bolt on the top inside the frame rail lowers the battery down for removal of the chrome cover and battery. (#1 in the top pic)
Different year dynas may be just a bit different as to the location of the bolts but are pretty much the same removal otherwise.
Always disconnect the negative battery terminal first and reconnect the negative terminal last to prevent any sparks from the wrench hitting anything.

You should have two 1/2" bolt heads left of the battery box - one above the other. Loosen these, but don't remove. With the seat off, look to the inside of the battery to the left of the box (inboard of the box) and you will see another 1/2" bolt head. As you back this out, the battery box should descend. Lower it enough to get the top off the box. This should give you enough room to mess with the battery. If not, you may have to take the first two bolt out completely. If you remove those bolts, when you are lowering the battery further (inboard bolt) keep your hand on the bottom of the battery box so it doesn't drop onto the bike.
