breakout box

has anyone built a breakout box using old power commander fittings? if so I would like to build my own. I would like to talk to someone about it. I can figure out with pin on the fitting is #1 and so on..

The trick to making a breakout box is identifying the connectors used and then going to electronics component "aggregator" (one that gathers all different kinds and parts and resells them), such as Newark, Mouser, DigiKey and others to find the "mating connector", gender and finish (if metal parts are not gold flashed or shell is different metal corrosion will occur). Usually the maker will have a makers' mark, logo or some identifier. If you have a detailed manual of the equipment that of course helps, but a Power Commander is an item that is likely proprietary, so you have to do a bit of sleuthing. Good luck...:s

I have made one. I assume you want to test the ECM - right?

The only hard part is separating the connector and fitting all the new wiring in the connector.
