bluish greenish gunk

I just got back in from the rain, was drying off the bike and came across some goopy bluish-green gunk just above the fork. Seems like a lubricant to keep the handlebars turning well, but I just wanted to be sure. It is about the consistency of gel. Should I keep it on there or wipe it off? Thanks.

Sounds like neck bearing grease.

It's probably grease from the neck bearings. Wipe it off, the parts that need lube are not visible, it's just overfill. Better too much than not enough. If you have had the bike a while, and it wasn't there before, you might want to investigate why it's coming out now.

Wipe it down good, ride it thru some corners and recheck it, does it steer good lock to lock and how does the fall away feel?

Everything seems ok. Looks like it was extra that I never noticed.
