2007 dyna, lite knock from front of Primary

My advice is to check out the torque on the compensating sprocket. When they come loose they make a knock just like the one you are describing. While your there check the primary chain alignment, as vibrates from runout could be the likely culpert in the compensating nut being loose.
 
A while back I read a post about the primary chain causing a rattle in the bike.
someone suggested a hard exceleration from dead stop in first gear, then jumping on the rear brake hard but not enough to slide the tire then repeat 3 or 4 times. this will cause the primary chain to go slack and then retighten abruptly. Which will cause the auto tentioner to adjust. I tried this and it worked great! afterwards the bike was so quite it sounded like it did when it was new. never had to do it again. guess the first adjustment of the self tentioner needs a little nudge the first time.
