Went on a ride and stopped for gas, went to start and the bike was dead. Would not start. Charged the battery & checked the volts and it was 12.8. Turned the bike on and rolled the throttle voltage did not increase but dropped to 12.3. Suspect a bad stator, regulator or both. Pulled the primary chain inspection cover to see if the stator had burned up but the smell was normal. I'll do the light trick and check the resistance when I get the time. I'll keep ya posted.

Well, come to find out it was the stator. Once the stator was replaced, I kept getting a check engine light and a code P0118. Engine Temp Sensor. Basically had to replace the sensor and stator. Technically, it wasn't hard but very labor intensive. Take your time, do it right, and you will save a bundle!
