My experience with gortex has been good has kept me dry in the past however when on the bike on longer trips i wear a cordura jacket and trousers
cordura is a textile that is waterproof and abrasion resistant has ce armour in the relevant places and vent zips for warmer weather i have been in some real heavy rain where visibility about 100 yards or less because of the density of the rain about 6 hours of that and still dry inside works for me
