I have a 1973 FLH with an S&S carburetor that spills fuel out the overflow when I turn on the fuel valve. Any tips to solve?

Does it do it while it is running or just parked shut off?

I noticed it after I started the bike. When I shut it off, it still would leak when I turned the fuel valve on.

Seems that maybe the float is not closing the needle valve? Is it coming out of the overflow?

You may have some debris in the needle valve keeping it open a bit being you say it's coming out the overflow. One other thing to check is the float itself, not familiar with that particular float if it is hollow or not but it may be leaking and not holding the correct level.
