I'm considering adding a "Forty-eight" to the stable and would like to punch up the power. According to the HD website the 48 has 79 ft lbs of torque @ 4000 rpm the xl1200 has only 73.** ft lbs a 4000 rpm. Bore & stroke are the same for both. I found that interesting and don't understand why the xl would have less torque. Anyway what would you guys recommend to punch up the power on a 48? Cam? what one? Exhaust? Race Tuner etc? Work would be done at the dealer as I'm not much of a wrench.

All I can say is to ride it a bit first. After not riding a 800lb bike the increase in performance might just be OK. So after riding awhile and change needed a air cleaner and mufflers with a TFI might do the trick.

Just the standard upgrades that provide the most bang for the buck.

Stage 1, air filter, slip ons and EFI re-map. :s

After that, things begin to get pricy and the options endless. I've read that a cam upgrade on newer Sportys doesn't net too much.....................

Unless you decide to get some head work done. Then the slope gets slippery. :D
