Assembling the front end on a 2006 Street Bob

FYI, image in #17 and #19 won't open for me. Those short stem mirrors are the same ones shown in the photo of my Deuce.

Here is a before picture of the bike:

I've been wanting drag bars on this bike for a long time, and after several failed attempts, I gave up. But I think if I go with 2008 OEM fat bob handlebar parts, I can do it. It will set this build back because it will be expensive (for me anyway). Stay tuned, I guess.

Starting fork assembly over. Fine sanded the fork triple clamps to remove all imperfections, next will be to buff them to their former glory:

Attached is a pic of my Electra Glide forks. I sanded with 300 - 2500 grit wet paper, then used Mothers mag/alum polish (other brands are good) then used auto cleaner/wax, and finally carnuba wax to keep oxidation at a minimum. It's a bit of work, but I find polishing aluminum to be therapeutic (a little).

Buffed the lower triple tree, then installed it according to the service manual's instructions:

BTW, everything I'll be doing is done following the service manual. I could probably put it together without it, but I like instructions, procedure, details, specifics. It's like a checklist.

Buffed the upper triple tree and placed it on there. I ordered a new locking washer to install under the steering stem nut. Waiting on parts sucks!
