Like a Midwestern motorcycle Sasquatch, this chopper has been making the rounds for years. The Missouri Ape Hanger Harley was spotted again Sunday in its natural habitat.

Jalopnik reader Doug snapped this picture on the streets of suburban St. Louis, where the bike has been caught before. The high handlebars — "ape hangers" in chopper speak — rank among the tallest in the world, and far exceed the 15-inch height above the seat allowed by Missouri state law.
Luckily for the owner, being in St. Louis means he's just a bridge ride away from Illinois, offering fine casino dining and a lack of helmet laws. If you're going to gamble like this, why not lay a few more bets?

I have to wonder how far/long one can ride with their arms elevated like that before the blood flow to the hands stops, or slows down enough, to prevent the hands from operating properly. If you're not sure what I'm talking about just raise both arms above your head and see how long you can hold them there. Then imagine controling a bike. This can't be safe! To each his own. I ride to have fun and enjoy myself, not to make myself miserable. Just sayin....

This is like a dupe of that other thread a few weeks ago for similar apes. It's amazing the Police don't question the safety of those bars.

Plus the pipes protrude so far to the rear, they would need a flag tied on in Florida to be legal.

I talked to that guy a few years ago, he was riding through Indiana... he rides all over the country like that. From somewhere in Missouri. Also, its a jockey shift with a foot clutch.... he drag races it too...
