What's up with the long whip hanging off of some guys handlebars?? Not fringe, just a long braided leather whip hanging off of one side of the handlebars. (Always seems to be on the right side.) ??:small3d014:

found this on a web site about it

"There's a history behind these old-school biker or "getback" whips. Back in the day, you'd see bikers sporting whips - hanging from their clutch or brake levers as they rode. The leather whips were usually made from the biker's club colors - to display their colors and for club recognition. But the whips were a whole lot more than just leather club colors. A biker whip could be quickly released and used "in case of emergency."

Just another way of telling someone that they shouldn't be messing with you, gives the rider a way to give a hello tap on a windshield or where ever needed to get thier attention

Hey, as little kids we had the long tassels hanging off our handlebars on our bikes. But seriously, they are for looks, decorative & friendly to some or otherwise to others. Either way, some local ordinances consider them as weapons if they are easily removable from your levers...make sure if you use them they are bolted on with tools needed for removal.
