Today was the 21st annual Skid Row Toy Run. Every year, the kids line up along side the mission bldg., and all the toys are down in front on tables. When it starts, the kids can pick their choices from the tables.
Every year, the line of kids is longer...last year it extended to the end of the block.
This year, for the first time ever, the line went completely around the block, in a full horseshoe. Over twice as many kids as last year.
The kids are all happy and laughing and having a good time, but there's something really sad and terribly wrong, to see so many kids in the skid row area and in need. Truly it's a sign of the times. Let's hope that next year brings more toys and fewer kids that need them.
