Went to a Toy Run Today...

Today was the 21st annual Skid Row Toy Run. Every year, the kids line up along side the mission bldg., and all the toys are down in front on tables. When it starts, the kids can pick their choices from the tables.

Every year, the line of kids is longer...last year it extended to the end of the block.

This year, for the first time ever, the line went completely around the block, in a full horseshoe. Over twice as many kids as last year.

The kids are all happy and laughing and having a good time, but there's something really sad and terribly wrong, to see so many kids in the skid row area and in need. Truly it's a sign of the times. Let's hope that next year brings more toys and fewer kids that need them.

Paula and I did our first toy run last Saturday. 94 bikes and several cars. We collected about 200 presents for our local hospital. We had a blast and will do it every year.

We had one local this morning, but I did not make it due to being a little under the weather this morning. I did a toy run back in October, I was looking forward to this one.

Went on my first Toy Run Sunday,,,27th Annual ABATE of Louisiana Magnolia School Toy Run. They estimate 900 bikes participated in it. People were lining the roads and waiving at us. We had police escort from 5 areas. I must say it was quite a site.

Looks like it was a good run, even Santa was there. I also like the fact that you had Motorcycle cops on Harley's for intersections, that is a +. Not too many motorcycle cops in my neck of the woods, the only ones I ever see are in Atlantic City and they ride all winter, but I think they run BMW's. But glad to hear you enjoyed the ride, I bet your ready for next year..
