I am currently repairing my 2003 1200 Custom and I am going with a Live to Ride Theme, (Mirrors, Derby etc) but being new to Harley and my Haynes manual doesn't tell whether my bike takes a vented or non vented gas cap. Does anyone know for sure? I am in NC not California Thanks:D

Draxtor, welcome to the HDTimeline forum and your first post. Take the gas cap off and look in the 12:00 position of fuel tank opening for a small vent hole...then check your cap to see if it has a sealing ring that thread and tightly seals the top.

Finally check the lower parts of the bike for plastic canister, about the size of a small soda can that has a few hoses coming out of it. If you have that cannister and sealing cap, you likely have sealed cap, closed evaporative control system...i.e. the gas vapors are not vented to the open atmosphere.
