Transmission Oil Check 1980 FXEF Shovelhead

How do I check the transmission oil level in a 1980 Fat Bob 1340 Shovelhead?

I've searched all over Google and here but can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Refill to just under the filler opening, give a bit of air space

If it's a five speed tranny should have a plug on top of the trans with a spot for an allen wrench to fit in it, pull that out an voila you're in. :59:

Excellent. Thanks for the help guys!

I pulled the allen screw from the side of the transmission kick-starter. There was nothing. I opened the screw cap on top of the tranny and put almost a quart of 40wt oil in there until it started coming out of the inspection hole. I stopped pouring, put the inspection screw back in and the tranny fill cap back on. It's shifting much smoother now.

Thanks again for all the help.

Thanks Jack.

Any advice on the oil? I thought that was a little light but it is what the service manual calls for.

I ran 80 w gear oil, Alot of us older guys bought into the HD fact of running 60 w H D oil what ever you like your ride you decide:D
